Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, named for its yellow color. Brass has good mechanical properties and wear resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing precision instruments and ship parts. Bronze also has an anomalous property—"thermal shrinkage and cold expansion"—used for casting statues, where cooling causes expansion, making details clearer.
